From 2005 to 2014, Chancellor Anne Ponder admirably served UNC Asheville, elevating the institution to one of the best public liberal arts universities in the country and a model of environmental, economic and social sustainability. The heart of Chancellor Ponder's legacy has been finding ways to ensure that the best and brightest students are able to attend UNC Asheville, regardless of their circumstances.
To honor Chancellor Ponder's lifelong devotion to investing in the success of students, we have created the Anne Ponder Distinguished Scholarship Fund, proudly offered as the first scholarship within our newly created Cary Caperton Owen Distinguished Scholars Program.
Anne Ponder Distinguished Scholars will receive the full cost of education, including tuition and fees and room and board. Anne Ponder Scholars will participate in the Honors Program, receive a stipend for undergraduate research and have the option to study abroad. Our goal is to build the fund to $400,000, which will provide scholarships to exceptional students from North Carolina. Gifts of any size are gratefully accepted toward reaching this goal.
Your gift to the Anne Ponder Distinguished Scholarship Fund provides well-deserving students with a lifetime gift and ensures Chancellor Ponder’s continued legacy of educational opportunity and inspiration.
