Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to invite you on an unforgettable journey with an incredible group of people. Join us for an exclusive 10-day adventure through the enchanting landscapes of Scotland. This trip will guide a small group through Scotland’s stunning scenery, vibrant cultural centers, and quaint villages. While we’ll visit some of Scotland’s iconic landmarks, this experience also features unique highlights, including a special visit to Dunkeld & Birnam, Asheville’s Scottish sister cities. While there, we’ll immerse ourselves in the excitement of their annual Highland Games, a cherished tradition.
As part of our third trip in UNC Asheville’s Sponsored Travel Program, we are delighted to continue our partnership with Asheville Sister Cities International, enhancing the experience and celebrating our shared cultural bonds across the pond. We’ve also teamed up with Traveling Soul Tours, a boutique travel agency specializing in personalized journeys through Scotland. Leading our exploration will be Stevie Cairns, a Scottish highlander and historian with decades of guiding experience. His expertise in the Jacobite Rebellion, Scottish ancestry, and Scotch whisky will add depth and charm to our adventure. Slàinte!
In addition to the trip, UNC Asheville will provide pre- and post-trip gatherings, send university hosts to accompany the group, and offer complimentary transportation between the UNC Asheville campus and the Charlotte airport for the provided flights on August 29th and September 7th.
Space is limited, so we encourage you to sign up soon. If you have any questions about the trip, please feel free to contact me directly at mmcnamee@unca.edu or 828-232-5091. I hope you will join us!
Sincerely,
Michael McNamee, Ph.D.
