Asheville Ideas Fest on The Road in Wilmington, NC

Join me when I take UNC-Asheville’s Ideas Fest on the road for an inspiring and exciting weekend in historic Wilmington, North Carolina, March 15-17. We’ll walk in the footsteps of the 1898 race massacre, learn about North Carolina’s native carnivorous plants, explore a centuries old mansion after dark, and, of course, enjoy some of the region’s best food and beverages for a special experience curated by yours truly in the city I’ve called home since 2013.

Individual tickets – $1,500 for single occupancy and $1,300 for double – include a two-night stay at the Hotel Ballast on Wilmington’s gorgeous riverwalk, an oceanfront lunch at the Oceanic in Wrightsville Beach, two historic tours, and a Saturday night dinner at Seabird curated and prepared by current James Beard-semifinalist chef Dean Neff. Participants will also receive a copy of the 2021 Pulitzer Prize winner Wilmington’s Lie: The Murderous Coup of 1898 and the Rise of White Supremacy, which is the spring 2024 selection of the Common Word Community Read. Follow us from the mountains to the sea for an unforgettable spring weekend with me in one of North Carolina’s most historic, beautiful, and mysterious cities. Seats are limited to the first 20 people who register. Please follow this link to reserve your tickets as soon as possible. I’ll see you on the coast in March.
